New Puppies are great!
This weekend I acquired a new puppy. She is wonderful. She is nine weeks, a parti toy poodle, and great. She only weighed 4.7 oz at birth. I had to make the decision on whether to ship her or pick her up as she was more than 500 miles from my home. After giving it a lot of thought, we decided to drive to the breeder and pick her up. We thought it was just too much trauma for her to have to ‘catch a flight’.
We started out Friday night and drove about 350 miles before getting a hotel room. Then, Saturday morning we drove the remiaining distance, picked her up and drove back home. On our journey, we took our other poodle which is an apricot mini and is 16 years old. She is very tolerant. She doesn’t have a problem with other animals and will walk away from a fight. So, we felt that she would accept it from the point of not being too rough with it. That she did, but she keeps trying to find a quiet place away from the playful pup and we try to help her accommodate that need.
The little one finally got a name although I may have chosen a different one. It is one that I just tossed out while we were trying to choose one, and it stuck. The puppy has been amazing in that she has allowed us to sleep both nights that we have had her. That is quiet different from our other poodle. She let the world know she wasn’t happy about her move. So, here’s to peaceful adoptions.
So, today we go to the vet for our wellness visit.
